BACK PORCH CLAY WORKS
LYNN COBB - FINE SILVER JEWELRY
Welcome to the online gallery of Back Porch Clay Works, fine silver jewelry hand made by Lynn Cobb, Certified PMC Artisan. If you don't already know, Precious Metal Clay (PMC) is a new material made from fine particles of silver, an organic binder and water. The clay is then formed, molded, texturized and fired in a kiln at 1650F just under the melting point of silver. The binder completely burns away, leaving a piece that is 99.9% pure silver also known as fine silver. This differs from sterling which is only 92.5% with the remainder made up of copper. It is this copper that often causes the allergic reaction that some people have to silver. If you are one of these sufferers, you might be able to wear fine silver without the allergic reaction. My silver jewelry is finished to a brilliant shine or has had patina added to accentuate the fine details of the textured designs.
